Mud and Fun, Who Knew!
Apparently
a lot of people... know that it is fun to get muddy! Spent some time the weekend of October 11th, 2010 at the Outlaw Off Road Park Fundraiser, for Shawn
Parrish. Over 450 people were on the property, which is loaded with mud
pits and trails for ATVs and 4 wheelers.
You can see some pretty good pictures and nice video on this page. As for the name of the Park... didn't see a single "Outlaw". At least I don't think I did!!! |
The Science Guy at The Libraryby Hummie, from the Blog www.hummiesworld.comJason Lindsey, the Science Guy, is so much fun! I really enjoy watching the children interact with him. He is at the Cape Girardeau Public Library four times this summer, roughly ever other weekend. He will be there again on Saturday, July 10th and July 24 at 11 a.m. Unfortunately, Jason marked is calendar wrong as 1 p.m. instead of 11 a.m. for that day and so when the initial group showed up at 11 a.m., the fast thinking librarian quickly shared a fun activity impromptu. The children put water with dish detergent in a cup and covered the cup with a square of wash cloth material. A hole was poked in the side of the cup and a straw was inserted for blowing. With spray bottles in hand to spritz the cloth on top, the children blew bubbles everywhere! Wow. I was surprised! What a great inexpensive activity that can be done even at home. What a mess, if you can call clean bubbles a mess, was all over the room when the children were done. They are only getting started in this photo. ![]() For

Finally, the place that has haunted my dreams and taunted me in my
waking hour has been found. Cowards Hollow Natural Area has been an
obsession since the beginning of winter and I, because of a friend who
found the cascade, got to see it in person in early March. I have been
told, erroneously, that I would not be impressed once I saw the
waterfall with my own eyes. I kept telling myself that I wanted to see
if even if I would not be impressed. " I want to find it, no matter
what it looks like and what it doesn't" I kept saying to myself.
