First Friday Arts Putting a New Spin on Things
By Emily Sladek

A new art form is joining the First Friday Arts in Cape. Referred to as
"group draw" this exciting opportunity to contribute to the arts is
offered to artists and non-artists alike.
The concept is simple,
yet intriguing. It all starts with a rather large canvas set to rotate
after so long. The creators start the art at the spot where they are
seated around the blank canvas, and as the event progresses, the canvas
is rotated giving the artist the opportunity to build off of what the
one before them started. What seems to be a complexity of completing
another's work is laced with the mystery of what the finished product
will turn out to be.
The event will take place at Port Cape's Yacht Club at 8pm on Friday, February 3.

The Best Medicine
By Emily Sladek

After a day of chaos, it was
a welcomed change for me to go to the Humorous Storytelling night at
Rose Theater. I was anticipating a relaxing evening with a few laughs; I
never doubted the entertainment that was in store, but I had
underestimated its value.
The event boasted 523 attendees who
all got to marvel at the humor these two had to offer, including
visitors from 9 states according to Chuck Martin of the Cape Convention
and Visitors Bureau. "It was great to see old and young alike having
such an enjoyable time together," said Martin. "Laughter is indeed
contagious."
If ever the opportunity comes up again to see the
two perform, I will be first in line to get tickets. I'm already
preparing for the Storytelling Festival in April, sure to be filled with
the same kind of genuine entertainment, funny and sincere alike.

Mike Zito - Greyhound Album Review
By James Layman

Let me start by saying this; to pigeonhole Greyhound as a blues album
would be a travesty. In fact, it has only the baser undertones of a
blues album. The way I see it Greyhound is more of a fully punched
passport into the annals of American music. What’s even better,
Greyhound is almost two albums in one.
The title track “Greyhound” illustrates Zito’s versatility as a song
writer. For this song, he resides in a place more indicative of writers
such as Steve Earle and Tom Petty. Although “Greyhound” is recognizably
Zito, it does have a hint of Americana influence and it really sets what
I view to be the second part of the album up nicely.
