Cape Roller Girls Vs. MO-KAN March 29

PRESS RELEASE

Cape Roller Girls v. MO-KAN March 29

Cape Girardeau, Mo.—Hot on the wheels of the popular opening mash-up, the Cape Girardeau Roller Girls (CGRG) get into the real competition of their fifth season March 29th MO-KAN All Starz. Doors to the A.C.Brase Arena will open at 5:00 p.m. and the main event begins at approximately 7:00.

The visiting team has already participated in three bouts this year, while the CGRG had only the season opening mash-up to prepare competitively. “MO-KAN is known for aggressive, fast play; it should be an action-packed crowd pleaser,” explains veteran skater and team treasurer, Jen Rose (aka Me-Ya Wham). The CGRG comes off a winning 2013 season, and many veterans just returned from a mash-up in Memphis where skaters from multiple leagues compete with and against one another.

The CGRG is a nonprofit organization, and the team donates a portion of every bout to a local charity. Last month the team chose Special Olympics as the nonprofit recipient and will present the donation at halftime. This is in addition to the $3,200 raised by the team during the Special Olympics Polar Plunge in February. This month’s donation recipient is Southeast Hospice, a group the team has partnered with for several years. Other charities designated this season as beneficiaries of the team’s good will include the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation and Beacon Health Center.

The CGRG takes pride in providing a family-friendly atmosphere. After every bout the fans are invited down to the track for photos and autographs, and children are encouraged to jump into the team photo. All home bouts are held at the A.C. Brase Arena. Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance at Pitter’s Café, PMac Music and from any roller girl for $7 or online at www.brownpapertickets.com; tickets can be purchased for $9 at the door the night of the bout.
