Halloween is here this week, that means candy, parties, and fun. We’ve brought together all the Halloween happenings in the area so you’re sure to have a hauntingly good time. Whether you're looking for a party, a trick-or-treat location, a 5K, or any other Halloween fun, we have it all.
Tricks:
Make your own trick-or-treat tote
Osage Center, Cape
October 26, 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Children, ages 5-10, can make their own tote for all the candy they’ll get on Halloween night! Event organizers will provide all the materials needed to decorate a tote and put it together to get ready for your night of trick or treating fun. Cost is $13 for Cape Girardeau residents and $16 for non-residents.
Mask Making Workshop
Catapult Creative House, Cape
October 29, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Introduction to relief painting and mask making. Ages 8 and up. All supplies are provided, and participants can take their mask home. Cost is $8. Registration required, call 651-2742.
Fright Night Costume Contest
River Town Labs Pokestop, Cape
October 29, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
River Town Labs and Coffee and Cat Computer Repair are proud to present Fright Night Costume Contest!
To enter the contest you must simply walk into the shop on Saturday, Oct. 29 in your best costume. This is not a Pokémon costume-only contest, so dress up however you wish. Three winners will be selected based on creativity, originality, and spookiness. Costumes from all age groups will have a chance at prizes too. These prizes will range from Pokéshop merchandise to huge savings on repair services.
Pumpkin Palooza
The Glenn House, Cape
October 30, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) party! At this event patterns, tools, tarps, paints, paintbrushes, and all the accouterments, including a candle will be provided! Just bring your creativity! Beware…this isn’t your average Halloween event, there will be spooky science, scary stories, and haunting history. This event is free. Carterville Chamber of Commerce
October 31, 4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Sign up is at 4:30 p.m.. Costume judging at 5 p.m. Costume awards then parade at 5:30 p.m. Start at the First Baptist Church parking lot. Bring canned good to participate. All food will be donated to the Carterville Food Pantry. Costume contest awards for ages 6 months to 2 years, 3 - 5 years, 6 - 9 years and 10 - 12 years.
Pumpkin Path runs from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. starting at First Mid-Illinois Bank and finishing at the Fire Station.

Night Before Halloween Trunk or Treat

Free trunk or treat event the night before Halloween. Hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, drink, candy. Located on a safe paved church parking lot.

Moonlight Madness Trunk or Treat

Area businesses will be set up to host trick-or-treaters at the Perry Park Center Parking lot. There will be prizes for the best costumes, best decorate pumpkin, and a pet costume contest. In the case of rain, the event will still be held inside the Perry Park Center.
Murdale Safe Halloween
Murdale True Value, Carbondale
October 29, 10 a.m. - 2p.m.
Trick or Treating and more! There will be inflatables for the kids to play on and hayrides for free. Carbondale Fire and Police Departments will be there to teach safety. The lunch fundraiser will go towards Crimestoppers.

October 31, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
21st Annual Trick-or-Treating event! Bring the kids out to enjoy trick-or-treating outside each store's door in a safe atmosphere right on the sidewalk. Local police and fire departments will be on site with demonstrations and information. Plus the Sikeston Humane Society will be there with some of their furry friends!

Looking to have a spooktackular good time? Come join a night of games and prizes, free food, drinks, and of course CANDY!
Halloween Boo Bash
Illinois Star Centre Mall, Marion
October 31, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Take part in Illinois Star Center Mall's free Halloween Boo Bash. There will be a mall-wide trick-or-treat and costume contest in a safe, family-friendly environment. Contest is only open to first 20 entrants so come early.
Trunk or Treat
Elkville City Park, Elkville
October 31, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
The whole family is invited to a Trunk or Treat in the park. There will be a kid-friendly Haunted Bus ($5), and a Haunted Hayride to the cemetery and back. Entry to the event is free.

Visit Main Street Carbondale for trick-or-treating at participating businesses.
Ghosts:
Ghost Walk & History Tour
The Gazebo, Perryville
October 27. 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Meet at the Gazebo for a journey through haunted and historic Perryville, MO. Your tour guide will tell stories of local spirits and legends. Cost is $5 per person.
Haunted Carbondale Tours
Castle Perilous, Carbondale
October 28, 29, and 31, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Take a walk through the dark side of Carbondale every Friday and Saturday in October. Cost is $10 per person. Children are free. Well-behaved pets are welcome. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society. Call 529-5317 for details.

A wedding for all to witness! Come see Daisy Days and John Robert as they re-live one of their greatest nights-their wedding night. The night that Daisy was later found murdered.
