Rockin' the Park Concert

Rockin' The Park FlierYou don’t need 1.21 gigawatts to go back in time, you just need some good music. That 80’s Band is providing the ultimate 1980s experience at the Rockin’ the Park concert in Jackson Missouri. Grab your leg warmers, get your hair in a scrunchie, put on that old Transformers cartoon T-shirt, and get in the Delorean, we’re going to the past.

The City Park Bandshell is going to feel several decades younger by the time the Rockin’ the Park concert is done. That 80’s Band will be performing live all evening, and they’re inviting everyone to dress appropriately in their best 1980s-inspired fashion for the best-dressed contest. Go back to the decade of Jason Voorhees, Saturday morning cartoons, Sega Genesis, John Hughes, and of course, some of the world’s greatest rock ‘n roll.

That 80’s Band perform a mixture of classic rock ‘n roll, ballad, pop, and hip-hop covers that will fill you with nostalgia, and they dress the part. With high energy and hair that looks like they stuck a fork in a power socket, this is one concert that will have everyone out of their lawn chairs and dancing the night away. After all girls, and boys, just want to have fun!

The concert will also provide food and drink. No outside beverages are allowed, but there will be a cash bar. Food vendors include potato skins, sandwiches, and . . . cowabunga dude! Pizza that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be proud of.

Brian Hahs was the instigator for Rockin’ in the Park, having come up with the idea a couple of years ago, “My boss, Charlie Glueck, became the Chamber president in January and that's when the idea came back to life.  I knew we could work together to organize not only a fundraiser for the chamber but a community wide outdoor concert event like no other.”

Hahs wanted to take advantage of Jackson’s beautiful parks and outdoor venues, “The Jackson Bandshell sits right in the middle of the park. What an awesome outdoor venue just sitting there ready for an event like this . . .  People still like to get together with their friends, enjoy good food and drink, and listen to great live entertainment.”

Bring your lawnchairs to the concert May 23 at the Jackson City Park in the bandshell. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with the band playing from 7:00 p.m. to  11:00 p.m. Tickets are $10, and children 10 and under get in free. Hasta la vista, baby.
