Independence Day Events 2015

It’s time for Independence Day, and honestly is there a better way to celebrate freedom than with explosions? Our area is full of firework shows, festivals, and special events to celebrate 239 years of America. Cut up some watermelon, warm up the grill, and get ready for an awesome holiday.

Check out some explosions early at Fort D, Cape Girardeau’s reenactment camp. This free event includes live demonstrations of musket and cannon fire. These are the true sounds of freedom. 9:00 a.m.

In Benton Illinois they will be celebrating with the Bluegill Music Festival. 20 bands on 3 stages all day long, followed by a fireworks display. 11:00 a.m.

The St. Louis Iron and Southern Railway will have an Independence Day train ride with live entertainment. 1:00 p.m.

For a full day of celebration head to the village of Goreville, IL including a 5K, parade, live music by the Happy Hollow Bluegrass Band, car and tractor show, concert in the park with 90 Proof, and of course, fireworks. It all starts at 7:00 a.m.

If you like camping Ozark Outdoors in Leasburg is having a Fourth of July Weekend where you can spend the night and enjoy a fireworks show.

For an old fashion Fourth of July picnic join the Guardian Angel Knights of Columbus Hall in Oran for ice cream, dinner, bingo, and fireworks all starting at 11:00 a.m.

In Sikeston the fireworks display will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Sikeston Recreation Complex.

If you don’t mind a bit of a drive Herculaneum Missouri will be celebrating all weekend, concluding on the fourth with a carnival, parade, and of course, fireworks. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. with events going on throughout the day.

In Poplar Bluff there will be a parade starting at the Water Park at 9:00 a.m., with the fireworks show in Ray Clinton Park at dusk.

Update: Due to flood water Cape Girardeau will have their firework display in Arena Park. Come watch starting at 8:00 p.m.

For an early celebration join Hybrid Athletics (Now Crossfit) on July 3 for a community barbeque. Enjoy plenty of food and a fireworks show. That starts at 5:00 p.m. at 2630 Old Orchard Rd, in Jackson.

Jackson Missouri will have a full day of festivities, starting at 7:00 a.m. with a 5K run/walk. The rest of the day will include a car show, live entertainment, vendors, Art in the Park, a beer garden, and more! The fireworks start around 9:30 p.m.

Carbondale Illinois will have their fireworks display at SuperBlock  (on South Lewis Lane) starting at 9:00 p.m. There will be concessions and restrooms available. 

On July 3 Metropolis Illinois will be celebrating early in the parking lot of Harrah’s Metropolis Casino from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with games, bounce house, food, and more before the fireworks show. A second fireworks show will take place July 4 in Washington Park.

The city of Hayti Missouri will be celebrating the old fashioned way with live music, barbeque, games, and fireworks at 8:00 p.m. at the Hayti City Park.

Enjoy a meal of fried catfish, games, live bluegrass music, and fireworks at the Blogett City Park starting at 4:00 p.m. in Blogett Missouri.

Farmington will have a fireworks display in Engler Park at 9:15 p.m.

Marble Hill will have a fireworks display, petting zoo, and karaoke at Whippoorwill Lake starting at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

Patton, Missouri will put on a show at the Patton Saddle Club. Enjoy the lawnmower races at 4:00 p.m. with fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

Sainte Genevieve will have events at the Courthouse Square throughout the day, including a church bell ringing, 'The Star-Spangled Banner’ sung by Abby Fischer, a reading of the Declaration of Independence by John Karel, and a short speech from Mayor Dick Greminger as well as State Representative Kevin Engler, and armed forces songs by Stormy Bennett. Starting at 7:30 p.m. in Pere Marquette Park there will be live music and fireworks at dusk.
