Vintage NOW Celebrates Biggest Year Yet

Vintage NOW 2015The Vintage NOW Fashion Show finished their sixth - and biggest - year of fundraising with a trip back to the 1970s. Forty models and over 200 volunteers came together, displaying wardrobes donated by Pastimes Antiques for a unique and glamorous fashion runway.

The fashion show raised over $58,000 for the Cape Girardeau Safe House for Women, a 40% increase from last year, according to their press release. This money will support the safe house and bring awareness to domestic violence.

Deb Maevers, Vintage NOW Founder and Director, and owner of Pastimes Antiques said, “My initial vision was to mix fashion for a cause. Through Vintage NOW’s support of the Safe House for Women, that dream has been fulfilled to help women in need.”

“The support generated through Vintage NOW has surpassed all of our expectations,” said Jessica Hill, Safe House for Women Executive Director. “A simple thank you does not do justice to our gratitude and appreciation for Deb Maevers [ . . .] We also thank our generous sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who played a part in this amazing night.”

Over 1,000 people attended the fashion show, enjoying a 70s-studded runway full of beautiful models and attire that mixed 1970s with modern flair. Dancers with On Cue Performing Arts studio and hula hoop girls provided entertainment. There was music with DJ Kyleigh Maevers Baliva, confetti canons, food from Isle Casino, and so much more that made the show fun and exciting.

The money will go to services that help victims of domestic violence, and allow the Safe House for Women continue to provide support to those in need.

In her ‘thank you’ address Maevers said, “ I would like to reiterate what can happen when a group of like-minded, big-hearted people with a passion for a cause get together . . . look what we can do.”
