Stacy Mitchhart Band to Bring New Orleans Music to 2015 Mardi Gras Cape Girardeau

The Stacy Mitchhart Band, hailing from Music City - Nashville, TN, is scheduled to headline Mardi Gras Cape Girardeau on Friday, February 6th .  Mitchhart, an awarding winning musician, has garnered the coveted Albert King IBC award in 2003 and was inaugurated into the Canadian Blues Hall of Fame in 2012.

I personally came to know Stacy back in the mid 90’s after he and his band moved to Nashville, TN and became the house band at the Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar on Printers Alley. Making the drive down from Cape Girardeau back then, it was a treat to see a musician of Stacy’s caliber command the stage and entertain a packed house with a horn section and back-up singers on the historic Printers Alley in the heart of downtown.  I would bump into him each year at the big NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show in Anaheim, California, but we really caught up a year ago when Stacy came on the FOX 17 Rock & Review with me to talk about his favorite music gear.

In 2014 Mitchhart released his 12th album featuring more guitar-oriented songs and less horns than usual.  “Live My Life” is the featured single, and name of the album, and a video was also created to support the new recording which has apparently worked very well!  Logging over 5 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboards Blues Albums “Live My Life” could possibly be Stacy’s best effort yet.  As he told me during the interview, he and his band recorded everything on two-inch audiotape to get the warm sound of vintage recordings; even after the songs were fine-tuned in ProTools editing software it was sent back to tape for final mastering.  Mitchhart has been endorsed by Epiphone guitars for years and there is currently talk of a “Stacy Mitchhart Signature Model” as he has been customizing a Casino Coupe model the company recently gave him.  For this album, though, he also dug deeper into his musical toolbox and pulled out three different cigar box guitars (tuned to open keys) a ukulele and a lap steel guitar.  His guitar, mic and PA cables of choice remain RapcoHorizon products made in Jackson, MO.  He credits Brad Graham and Darius Seabaugh for introducing him to the great RapcoHorizon cables that he uses exclusively in the studio and on the road.

When asked if he had played in or around Cape before, Mitchhart stated he had played the City of Roses Festival plus private parties and events for Mark Johnson (a local Cape Girardeau attorney).  Stacy says that he and the band play three to four Mardi Gras events every year and they really look forward to them.  Besides flashier band clothing and beads to throw out to the audience, they will be playing more traditional and recognizable New Orleans songs to create that true Mardi Gras feel and sound!

Fans of Stacy Mitchhart will be able to meet the singer/songwriter/performer in person, purchase his latest release “Live My Life” and get it autographed – other merchandise will be available also.  To check out Stacy’s new video, interviews and tour information visit his newly reconstructed website.

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend Mardi Gras Cape Girardeau’s Masquerade Party and see Stacy Mitchhart in person. It will be a festive night of New Orleans style music, food, fellowship and entertainment. For information on the event visit Cape Mardi Gras on Facebook or at their website.
